Ignacio Paez-Soto, 'Nacho Paez' or 'C-1', identified as the main operator for Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman in northern Sonora, was captured by Federal Police, told the states attorney general told MIlenio.
According to federal reports the suspect reported directly to 'El Chapo' on the activities of drug transfer, and plaza collection in the corridor between Caborca - Santa Ana - Nogales.
Paez-Soto was arrested in September 2009 and was wanted by the government of the United States when the Treasury Department proceeded to freeze various assets in that country.
Authorities said Paez-Soto took control of the plaza in Caborca, Sonora, after the murder of his brother Octavio Paez-Soto in April 2004, and since that time operated with the criminal groups, Los Sabori and Los Paleteros, in its operations of drug trafficking, extortion and smuggling of undocumented workers.
It was announced that based on intelligence work, PF elements placed the suspect when he moved in an armored Jeep Grand Cherokee through the town of Piquito.
The alleged leader of the Sinaloa cartel plaza was arrested along with his bodyguards identified as Reynaldo Alejandro del Rio Lopez, alias 'El Tongo' Ricardo Bermúdez and Francisco Ricardo Bermúdez Mendez, alias 'El Taliban'.
The state attorney officials said the "wow factor" that resulted from the work of Federal Police intelligence, "allowed to make this capture without firing a single shot."
In this operation the Federal Police secured an AK-47 with a cartridge supplied with 30 shots, one Colt brand super .38 revolver, approximately three kilos of cocaine, telephone equipment and a Volkswagen Jetta, plus the armored van carrying the accused.
