While confronting organized crime and supported by the people, self-defense community police groups (autodefensa) this afternoon took control of security in the community of Pareo and of Tancítaro .
The community police of Tepalcatepec and Buenavista Tomatlán mobilized to secure the towns after being ambushed by sicarios in Pareo, gravely injuring two civilians according to unconfirmed reports.
It is also reported that community police took over the city hall where PAN's Mayor Salvador Torres Mora presides.
Police reports indicate that in the center of the town two vehicles were torched, but it is not known who was responsible for the attacks, although some say it was the work of Templarios.
News of what happened are sketchy, but the confrontation, where some are reporting that two civilian were killed, happened on the road "Buenavista Periban" where members of the community police were ambushed by gunmen. The people that were alleged to have been killed have not yet been identified or officially confirmed.
Dr. José Manuel Mireles, leader of the autodefensa reported that two of his volunteers were gravely injured and lost two armored vehicles were destroyed with grenades.
Military forces were quickly mobilized to the area to attempt to locate the sicarios and prevent further violent incidents. Mireles stated that the military did not engage the sicarios, but it was the autodefensas that were ambushed and sustained casualties and damage to vehicles. Mireles said that the military took the weapons away from them but soon gave them back.
The incident was reported through social networks and blogs by the autodefensas themselves.
