The federal Government implemented a massive search for both; Ismael El Mayo Zambada and Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán in recent hours in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, official sources said.
Between last Friday and yesterday the federal authorities have obtained testimonies concerning the possible presence of two leaders of the Sinaloa cartel in the city of Culiacán, where last weekend at least 10 sicarios were arrested, among them "El 19", identified as the personal security of "El Mayo" Zambada.
Elements of the Ministry of marine and of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Attorney General's Office (PGR) led the special operation which began Sunday night and continued until the close of this edition.
According to the sources consulted, the detainees revealed that both drug lords attended a family reunion in Sinaloa this weekend.
Unofficial versions noted that uniformed officers searched at least 12 properties in Culiacán, in sectors such as the colonias of Guadeloupe and Libertad, which also included surveillance through Secretary of Navy helicopters. The PGR announced 91 guns, four cars and around 286,000 pesos were seized during the searches.
Federal corporations claimed that five of the detainees were caught in a ranch known as La Guasaria, in Culiacán. Four of them were immediately transferred to the maximum prison of Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
"The 19 was interned in the maximum security prison of the Highlands, in the State of Mexico. A day later, in Tijuana, Baja California, federal forces located and captured five other members of the Sinaloa cartel, including compa Omar, responsible for receiving Culiacan drug to move the United States ".
During a tour of Mazatlán, the Governor Mario López Valdez said that these operations are under the absolute control of the Secretary of Navy, and that police corporations of the State is not involved.
Aircraft and military helicopters made overflights in Culiacán to maintain closer monitoring in several areas of the city.
In the Federal District, the third and fourth measures district courts precautionary authorization have granted to the federal Government to carry out the intervention of different mobile phones whose numbers were provided by detainees, the Government and military sources reported.
As they pointed out, the first operation was carried out last Friday in Culiacán, where federal forces entered the settlement called Guasaria and captured five suspected sicarios.
There a subject that for now only known as "El 19", who was head of security for "El Mayo" was arrested. Others were arrested in various neighborhoods of Culiacán.
As part of this special operation, Marines and elements of the army raided houses and searched them all the way to the Culiacán.
According to testimonies of neighbors, the noise generated by military helicopters awakened them in the early hours of Monday. Colonia Centro Sinaloa, is located meters from the Palace of Government of the State.
Until the close of this Edition, the authorities refused to provide the names of the detainees. Meanwhile, fifty marines (navy) remained, carrying out a search warrant of a property located in the colonia Guadalupe de Culiacan, with the participation of staff of the PGR.
