Tamaulipas: SSP Chief of Intelligence Killed by Zetas

Zetas are suspected of being responsible in the killing

The newly appointed Chief of Intelligence of the Public Security Ministry of Tamaulipas, colonel Salvador Haro Muñoz , was killed in the streets of Ciudad Victoria. Haro Muñoz was ambushed around 5:00 pm Monday by a group or armed men who targeted his truck.

He had just being named to the post by federal the Public Security Ministry and recently arrived  in  Tamaulipas. when he was killed.

After the attack, the criminals fled but were found by federal the forces, beginning a series of shootouts in which four of the perpetrators died. Three members of the Navy and one officer of the Military Police were also injured.

 Haro Muñoz , was killed along with two of his bodyguards.


The Ministry of Public Security of San Luis Potosi, where Haro Muñoz worked prior to his arrival in Tamaulipas, sent two messages to addressing the death of the chief, through his Twitter account (@ SSP_SLP) " The commander Salvador Haro Muñoz  teammate SSPE # SLP a few hours ago was killed in #Tamaulipas. Rest in peace "and" of SSPE # SLP sends condolences to the family of Salvador HaroMuñoz  commander, who was killed in the line of duty. "

Background of Salvador Haro Muñoz:

He joined the Mexican Army in 1987 . Took protection courses, taught by Israeli officials staff in Mexico City.

He served as commander of  in the fighting crime operation in the State of Mexico. He was also Special Forces instructor in Queretaro and escort service staff of the Department of Defense.

He served as instructor arrest techniques in different schools up states like Mexico, Queretaro, Tabasco and San Luis Potosi.

As of yet, here was an official word from  the government of Tamaulipas.

Meanwhile, in Reynosa and Matamoros armed civilians attacked the Federal Police personnel and the Marina, leaving a total of  five attackers killed, confirmed  by Tamaulipas Coordination Group (GCT).

Official information detailed stated that in Reynosa, a criminal group attacked the Federal Police officers patrolling the area.

After a chase, four armed civilians were killed while trying to escape,  firing on the feds as they fled,  all four were wearing  bulletproof vests and rifles.

Meanwhile, in Matamoros, armed civilians who were traveling in a van, open fire on Semar personnel patrolling the road Lauro Villar.

Civilians trying to flee and crashed into a tree and vehicle caught fire, due to carrying a plastic container containing gasoline on board.
