An unusual outcome: Mele went hunting and the Tables Turned

For Melesio Beltrán Medina the plan backfired. Together with a group of gunmen operating in the South of Culiacan, he came to colonia Morelos to kidnap the younger brother of César Alberto Acosta Chairez, who was murdered  Monday the 19th in a shopping center in colonia Barrancas.

It seemed that he was waiting for them. Arriving at the house on Juan de Dios Bátiz Street and Guadalpe Victoria, the 21-year-old boy opened the door and fired, giving the Mele a bullet to the chest. When he fell to the ground wounded, his accomplices decided to help him.

They carried him off, took him to a Tacoma pickup and marched towards Sanalona road. They would drive to a specialty rehabilitation clinic hoping to save his life. They had shot him in the chest and he was dying. When they arrived at the hospital, Melesio Beltrán Medina had already died. They left him on the stairs and fled the place. Minutes later it would be full soldiers and policemen.

It was on Wednesday night. Two day before, the evening of Monday 19, César Alberto Acosta was driving a white Volkswagen beetle, without plate, in the colonia Barrancas, when he noticed that he had a "tail". He drove into the parking lot of the Soriana shopping center located in that sector and got out fast wielding a .38 caliber pistol. He ran and Mele's gunmen chased after him. The gunman fought back but was shot with AK-47s, cuernos de chivo, in one of the departments of the store, where he had run to, causing panic among employees and customers.

It is known that César Alberto Acosta, now known as Chiky Spay, had been arrested along with Gonzalo Inzunza Izunza, el Macho Prieto, in the dawn of May 5, 2005 at the Mazatlan ocean walkway, while traveling in an black Jetta without plates and a white Ford Lobo [F-150] pickup.

The municipal police searched them and found a weapons arsenal. Rifles, a bazooka, grenades, armor, guns, boots, drum magazines, money and jewelry. They were eight in total, all Culiches, and there were only six.

The detainees were presented as: Cándido Roche Ortiz, José Miguel Castro González, Alberto César Acosta Cháirez, Fabián Montes Aragón y Abraham Alberto Salcedo Hernández, 20, 22, 23, 26 and 26 years old, and a minor.

Police authorities were questioned but always denied that they had been eight detainees. However, there was evidence. Photographs of the search warrant, the police and detainees had been taken and they had already published. Two of them did not appear in the presentation. One was Gonzalo Inzunza and the other Ismael Bernal Cristerna. One appears in two photos sitting in a patrol box; the other stood while discussed with the police. Later, it would be known that they paid a hefty sum of money to be released.

It didn't take long before the detainees of that morning were released. The PGR issued a bulletin which gave an account of the facts and charged them with possession of firearms for the exclusive use of the armed forces and organized crime. But, within months they had reinstated the cells of el Macho Prieto. Including César Alberto Acosta Chairez.

Years later, on July 30, 2013, the Mongol was shot from truck truck in colonia Buenos Aires in Culiacan, after being chased for several minutes in the South of the city. In December 2013, el Macho Prieto faced off with the Marina in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora. To date there is no official report on his alleged death.

Once the assassins left the body of el Mele in the clinic located on Sanalona road, in the colonia Miguel Hidalgo, they returned to the coloia Morelos with reinforcements, to find thier target, but they didn't find it. They continued to search through a brother-in-law, Juan Francisco Valdez Román, who they took from his home in El Palmito and forced him to take them to the possible places where they were hidden. That is how they came to him. They took them bound for Navolato. It was a fulminating operation. Brother-in-law body was found at dawn by the road Benito Juárez, close to the banana tree, Navolato. He had his hands tied with belts of plastic and the disfigured face. Two caps, were found in the place one caliber 45 and the other 9 mm.

Hours later, around half past eleven in the morning, the police received a report that a body was in a ditch, on the same road, at the height of kilometer 15-400, near the village the battalion, also municipality of Navolato.

Police and forensic experts went to the scene and found the body of a 21 years-old young man, dressed in pants jeans and black t-shirt. he had only one shot in the neck from a 9mm, without traces of torture. It was Irving Acosta Chairez, the younger brother of Chiky Spay.

         

We may never know when Omar Aristeo Acosta Cháirez rose from his bed of  that Thursday,  knew that his younger brother had killed Melesio Beltrán Medina, el Mele, before the media last night. And that would complicate life to the interior of the criminal. Laws of the mafia are almost always met to the letter. They charge is an eye for an eye the grievances. There is a shocking example of this badge does damn blood and lead: Rodolfo Carrillo Fuentes is killed on September 11, 2004, in Culiacan, and two months and half afte, Arturo Guzman Loera, el Pollo, is murdered, inside the "maximum" security prison of the Altiplano. Eye for an eye, brother by brother.

Perhaps we will never know why he died so suddenly. Or did he learn then because he couldn't do anything. The murderer, when the motive is revenge, often make clearto  the victim why he does it. But if anyone did know the reason for his death, it was only those who grabbed him by the arms to immobilize him, and who wrapped the white  electrical wire to hang it on one of the bars of the gym when he was already dead, to look like a suicide.

33-year-old Omar had entered the jail on September 12, 2013, accused for the crimes of the dismantling and disposal of stolen vehicles and vehicle theft.

Did not participate in any of the activities that are conducted in the criminal with a view to reintegration of inmates into society once free. I was going to the gym which is located in module 14 three or four times a week. This Thursday was the last.

The Mele was 38 years old, and was one of the men who had been supplemented to Manuel Torres Félix, the wavy, once this was murdered in October 2012, in the region of San Lorenzo. Very close to Ismael Zambada García and friend of Los Antrax.

He had been imprisoned in the prison of Aguaruto in 2010, when he was arrested by the army in Tepuche. The incident occurred on February 15 of that year. The army reported that time when they patrolled the town, they were attacked and when they repelled the attack on of the sicarios, who was identified as Joel Octavio Villarreal Aguilera, barely 18 years of age, was shot and killed.

The army detained three people, among them el Mele, who received a shot from a G3 [.308] in the jaw. It was said that he had been a product of the clash, but then it was learned that a soldier took a shot when he was already detained on the ground and that el Mele turned his head and thus saved his skin. A year and a half later Beltrán Medina obtained his freedom.

On February 22, 2012, Melesio Beltran stood in the colonia Guadalupe Victoria when a cell of the group Los anthrax was attacked and which killed four gunmen of this criminal gang and one of the attackers. This time el Mele escaped unharmed and his ties with the mafia grew, corridos from through. But that night on Wednesday many had found luck.
