The legal team of Dr Jose Manuel Mireles, coastal autodefensas leader is saying that they are confident that the doctor will be released on September 17th.

The massive team of attorneys and legal scholars, led by Talia Vasquez Alatorre, reports that on September 17th the appellate court will render its decision on the appeal filed by the team.  The appeal was filed in Culiacan Sinaloa.

The Human Rights Commission and legal team found many irregularities in the arrest of Dr Mireles, an arrest that the majority of people find baseless, and charges manufactured to stop Dr Mireles' successful rise to state and national prominence and Commissioner Alfredo Castillo's opposition of Dr. Mireles.

The attorney team, is expecting Mireles, will go free, along with his bodyguards, before September 17, the deadline for the second unit tribunal circuit to resolve the appeal against the detention order.
Dr Mireles was arrested on June 27th along with his escorts, he was blindfolded, hooded, cuffed, denied phone calls, denied conference with his attorney, flown blindfolded in a helicopter for 5 hours, denied his insulin, head and face clean shaven and incarcerated at a Sonora prison 1000 away from his support and defense team.  Treatment unheard of, even for the most brutal of criminals.

Vasquez says they have proven he did not have weapons or drugs.

In the 2.5 mos he has experienced three hospitalizations ranging from 5-15 days each, resulting from improper care at the prison in treating and caring for his diabetes and hypertension. Vasquez stressed the urgency of release due to concerns for his health, that the Sonora prison does not have the necessary food or medications that Dr Mireles requires for his health.    She said that if the appellate ruling is not favorable, they will file a complaint with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

I am cautiously optimistic, however, historically, cases in the past have typically required  a longer length of time.

Cartels, Rurales and Crime
In the past month, there have been widespread and increasing reports of  an elevation of crime in Michoacan , and abuses by the Castillo generated Rurales police.  Also complaints of Rurales having ties to various cartels.  Crime is up in each category, murder, kidnapping, extortion reverting back to record breaking numbers seen 4 years ago.

What Residents Want Known

Articles in El Cronica and Michoacan 3.0 highlight the relationships between commanders of the federal generated “Fuerza Rurales” and cartels.

Rurales were initiated to dissolve and replace autodefensas groups, however, that has not transpired.  Many autodefensas group remain, especially those headed by Dr. Manuel Mireles Valverde, called the coastal autodefensas.

In the Cronica article, it reports that the residents of Buenavista, want it known who is behind the Ruales. Buenavista was the third town to take up arms and form an autodefensa group.  The first was La Ruana, which is part of the municipality of Buenavista.  Similar to a U.S. city in a county seat.

It was Hipolito Mora who organized Ruana, and Luis Antonio Torres better known as “El Americano” organized Buevnavista or H3.  In the early days groups of autodefensas were given an identification number after the letter “H” sequential to order of establishing the group.  H3 was third in succession.

In a recent interrogation video, a subject claimed that H3 was established by El Americano at the direction of CJNG (Mencho).  Mencho was opposed to the formation of the group, but the Mayor of Buenavista was insistent.    Americano was appointed to oversee the group, ut in actuality worked for Los Viagras, a splinter group from Templarios that formed an alliance with CJNG.

The mayor was later executed with machetes.

The Fuerza Rurales, are a creation of the federal government who Alfredo Castillo was appointed to oversee the group.   The appointment of Castillo has long been questioned to the legality of such an appointment by the federal government.  The creation of “Commission of Security and Integral Development” is a red herring that does not exist in any other Mexican state.

States are given constitution assurance of sovereignty.  The federal government is prohibited by law, from mandating from the federal level, such positions as was implemented with Castillo.   Further, any such position from the state or federal level must be approved by congressional vote.

Castillo’s position was not the result of a congressional vote,  nor discussed, the federal government, created and imposed the position out of lawful boundaries.  Among other issues, is the issue; if Castillo’s position is unlawful, how was he legally able to order the arrest of hundreds of autodefensas, including that of Dr. Mireles?

What the people of Buenavista Tomatlán want known is;

All commanders of Rurales are in collusion with organized crime.

The creation of the Fuerza Rurales, by Alfredo Castillo, is unlawful.

The Rurales commander known as “Papa Smurf”, is the brother in law of Chango Mendez, premier leader of La Familia Michoacana.

Luis Antonio Torres, the commander known as “El Americano”works for Los Viagras and Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG)

Alberto Gutiérrez, the commander “Cinco” or #5 is a criminal working for Los Viagras, from Apatzingán, who is responsible for the disappearance of the Tancítaro community police, who alledgedly vanished,  on the order of Viagras with El Americano, José de Jesús Bucio, and José Alvarado Robledo ‘El Burrillo’.

InAguililla, Adalberto Fructuoso Comparán,known as ‘Fruto’, Works for Caballeros Templarios  who controls the mines and quotas in the town of Aguililla.

In Coalcomán, Misael González Fernández, Works for Templarios, also controls the mines.
The Rurales commander  of  Tepalcatepec,Juanita Reyes, is accused of being a frontman for  brothers Juan Jose and Uriel Farías, belonging to CJNG..

In La Huacana, Ulises Sánchez Garibay, is accused of being connected to Miguel Ángel Gallegos, alias ‘Migueladas’, who according to Dr, Mireles, he is the owner of  a massive amount of  hectáreas of melón and exports the fruit to Japanese markets.
