CAF Lieutenant in charge of Zona Norte, Luis Manuel Toscano Rodriguez aka "El Mono" was executed this morning near the Tijuana Prison of La Mesa.
When asked, the authorities first reported Toscano had an appointment to make his statement in one of the several investigations against him, he was accompanied by 2 bodyguards and they decided to have breakfast in the area before the appointment, that´s when they were shot.
Toscano died at the scene, his identity was confirmed by an ID he was carrying on his pocket and was also recognized by the police agents that arrived at the scene.
Both of his bodyguards were taken injured to the Red Cross hospital and one of them died upon arrival according to official reports.
The execution happened at about 8:49 AM in the Charros Street, of La Mesa neighborhood, when a Municipal Police car arrived at the court building and reported gunshots were heard.
The agents verified the report and awaited until the State Preventive Police arrived at the scene who confirmed that a person was dead and several meters away 2 males were injured. 9mm cartridges were found at the scene.
Red Cross paramedics confirmed that one of the bodyguards of El Mono had a gunshot to the head so they took him to the hospital but died minutes later.
The other men is also injured but no more information was given.
According to State and Municipal authorities there's currently a police operation in the area in search of 2 attackers travelling aboard a brown Dodge Stratus.
At this moment, unofficial reports claim there´s 1 detainee.

One of the attackers was indeed arrested and is injured with a gunshot.
According to El-Mexicano´s report, "El Mono" was eating at a taco stand when 2 hitman began shooting at him and his bodyguards, "El Mono" tried to shoot back but his handgun jammed.
He received a shot to the head just like his bodyguard.
Toscano was carrying a legal document he had just signed at the State Court.
