Aguililla, Michoacán— The bodies of two men were found inside a truck in an area of the municipality of Aguililla in the early morning on Monday.

As it has been made known, the bodies correspond to members of autodefensas operating in the area.  They were identified as Sacramento Mendoza, 59 and David Zapién, 40.  Both were residents of the city who left the day before to take care of their cattle, but never returned to their homes.  Noventa Grados is reporting that David Zapién was the leader of the autodefensas of Aguililla while Mendoza was the second in command.

It was on Sunday afternoon when residents alerted authorities about a truck that was abandoned and burned on the highway leading to the community of El Potrero.

However, it wasn’t until this morning when the finding of the unit and the two bodies were found.  According to residents, the bodies belonged to the same autodefensas who were reported as missing the day before.

According to Mi Morelia, the bodies were riddled with bullets.  Several shell casings belonging to an AK-47, AR-15, and a 9mm pistol were found.

So far, investigations will continue to determine the motive.
