Mexico’s PGR (Attorney General Office), released a 19 minute video, illustrating the operation that resulted in the escape of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, and footage of the operation to capture El Chapo as he was on the run.
In the last five minutes of the presentation, the agency details intelligence work, with visuals, that was developed of the flight of the leader of the Sinaloa cartel.
Also featured is the search for the capo, during the nearly six months he was a fugitive, until January 8th when was recaptured.
The PGR details how the tunnel was built and how Chapo escaped from the maximum security prison in just 28 minutes.
The tools found under the shower floor, which Chapo used as an escape hatch, that allowed him to descend to freedom were, crowbars, stethoscope, cordless drill, oxygen masks, and a hydraulic jack.
There were 146 items of evidence, requiring the expertise of various areas of investigation, including, ballistics, voice analysis, fingerprinting, DNA, ballistics, forensic anthropology, among others.
In the video the process of determining full identity was shown. This process includes, forensic photography examination, fingerprints, and blood sample for DNA. “El Cholo Ivan (Gastelum) his security chief, who was arrested with Chapo, is shown with him during this process.
Although the video is in Spanish, the illustrations, images and footage are the main feature of the presentation and readers should be able to follow it without too much problem.
