The circus continues…

In a letter toReformaEmma Coronel, the wife of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, rejects the claim of Rosa Isela Guzmán, that she is the oldest child of Chapo. Or that he visitedthe U.S. twice after his most recent tunnel escape from Altiplano Prison.

The Guardian a U.K. news outlet, published articles based on interviews with Rosa and her assertions.  The  Guardian vetted the California woman, verifying her birth certificate, and other documents, along with albums of photos of her and Chapo, including some taken during his supposed trips to the U.S. The Guardian also received a confirmation from a minister who is a close friend of Chapo’s mother, Consuelo Loera,

Coronel states that Rosa wrote letters to El Chapo,  while he was in prison, claiming that her mother told her she was the daughter of the Sinaloa Capo. Although he responded, according to Coronel, he could not remember Rosa’s mother Maria Luisa.

Coronel says there will “be an investigation”, and a DNA test may be requested.

In the interview, Rosa made several claims that could hurt Chapo.  Claims about his ties and protection to the Mexican government, and an agreement to allow him to conduct business without any intervening by the government.

Rosa also stated that El Chapo’s partner, El Mayo, had betrayed Chapo.

In the letter sent by Emma Coronel:

Armida and Bernarda, sisters of Joaquin, say they have never heard of the existence of this person, so it is obvious that she is talking nonsense,  since none of the Guzman Loera  family knows or can identify her.  Therefore, we disclaim the statements of this woman and and claims kinship with Joaquin and family.

The wife of Chapo said that neither she nor her daughters have lived in the US and if they had, would not necessarily deny it because they are US citizens.  This is in response to Rosa’s claim that Emma and the twins lived in the U.S. for a year.

Emma Coronel asks the supposed daughter of her husband:

"DO NOT LEND YOURSELF TO THIS SORT OF THING, THE SITUATION IS QUITE DIFFICULT AND DELICATE FOR THE FAMILY AND IS NOT NECESSARY FOR PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE FAMILY TO GET INVOLVED TO AFFECT MORE STRESS TO OUR FAMILY”.

Is she or isn’t she?

The jury is out on this one.  Although she was vetted, there are some eyebrow raising moments when reading her interview.  First of all, she claims Chapo visited her to see the home he purchased for her.

Really?  The worlds most wanted drug trafficker, on the run, chances a trip to the U.S. to see a house?  Wouldn’t photos/videos do?

And her claim of being  with her “father”, in May 1993 in a Guadalajara airport parking lot, when a group of hitmen dispatched by the rival Tijuana cartel targeted the wrong car, killing a Roman Catholic cardinal, Juan Jesús Posadas Ocampo, and six other people, that just seemed improbable.

If she has fabricated the story, and placing all the effort into the ruse, the looming question is.

Why?

She has nothing to gain and much to lose.  Placing herself and children in jeopardy, not to mention the prying eye of the U.S. government, investigating her businesses and the origins of the funds to purchase her California home.  She says it was a gift from Chapo.  But from legal funds.

Legal funds?
