According to a report from the portal "24 Horas", every day, there are more minors that leave playing or studying, to participate in illegal acts under the orders of criminal organizations.

Authorities of the Marines (SEMAR), has identified the Los Zetas and La Familia Cartels as those the principally recruit minors into their ranks.

However, they are not the only criminal organizations that recruit children and adolescents, SEMAR has detained minors in criminal conflicts with the law in 12 States of the country, among them, they emphasize Tamaulipas, Sinaloa, Veracruz, Zacatecas, Guerrero, Michoacan, Durango, Chiapas, Jalisco and Nayarit.

SEDENA informed "24 Horas", that the majority of minors detained by the Public Ministry of the Federation, were arrested in relation to crimes of possession of fire arms, drug dealing and possession, and being hawks "Halcones", lookouts, as well as hydro-carbon theft, extortion, possession of stolen vehicles and kidnapping.




Adolescent Women

During the last ten years, the armed forces have detained 4232 minors, among them 485 were women.

In the cases of the detained women, the majority are from the States of Veracruz, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas, while the adolescent men detained are predominately from Nuevo Leon, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Guerrero and Aguascalientes.

In a poll taken from the article on El Debate, 73% of those who voted, said they knew a minor involved in crime, in a separate poll in the same article, the majority agreed that education programs will be the most effective way of deterring young people from turning to crime.
