A video containing footage of torture by police was sent to media outlets, Animal politico, Proceso, and Aristegui Noticias.

The video was anonymously submitted to the three Mexican media sources, all three belonging to the group “Mexico Leaks” created to expose corruption, organized crime and violations of human rights.

The footage shows a man identified as a chief officer of the attorney generals office of the state of Mexico, repeatedly suffocating Silverio Rodriguez Martinez, by using a plastic bag over his head.

This is not an uncommon practice. It has long been charged, proven by evidence, that authorities, from all agencies, state and federal use torture to gain “confessions”.

In this video, there are six officers in the room, including one seen videotaping the torture.

The detainee was arrested on suspicion of being a member of organized crime.

The officer directing the torture was Pedro Velazco Estrada, who worked in the state of Mexico’s Attorney General’s office special operations divisions from 2009 to 2015, when he was promoted to the federal Attorney General’s office.
