Yesterday, armed gunmen aboard two trucks opened fire on a convoy of the federal police, federal forces division, in a failed ambush where eight of the gunmen, belonging to a criminal group that controls the area, died.
The fighting occurred yesterday when the officers carried out surveillance patrols at 13:00 hours, three kilometers from the federal highway Entronque Urracas–Reynosa (also known as “Y”) kilometer 41, along the agricultural corridor of gap 40 that leads to the neighborhood Agrícola Francisco González Villarreal, belonging to the municipality of San Fernando.
In this area, a convoy of members of the federal preventive police led by the patrol vehicle #13754, were on a patrol when they were attacked by armed gunmen that were traveling aboard two trucks.
Upon realizing that they were cut off by the federal forces, the gunmen in the white truck opened fire at the convoy of federal agents, repelling the aggression.

Behind the white truck was another group of gunmen that, in order to face the federal forces, passed a gray Dodge Ram along the agricultural corridor of gap #40.
The shootout, which lasted 20 minutes, left eight criminals dead, which were in possession of tactical gear, radios, and cell phones.
Six AR-15’s were found along the bodies of the criminals, as well as a grenade launcher, a 9mm pistol, stocked magazines, and other cartridges of different calibers. The dead have not been identified by the police.
A patrol vehicle of the federal police was damaged with multiple gunshots, but none of the officers were injured, according to the Tamaulipas Coordination Group.
