U.S. Response to Rafael Caro Quintero: No Forgiveness

The US government does not abandon its goal, of bringing to justice Rafael Caro Quintero for the kidnapping, torture and murder of federal agent Enrique Kiki Camarena in February 1985.

"He participated in the torture, ordered the kidnapping and murder of Kiki; we have evidence, including recordings, and witnesses, "says the official of one of the most important US federal agencies, who agreed to the interview on condition that his identity not be disclosed.

"No, we will not rest; we will continue to insist on his arrest and extradition".

The senior State Department official, refers to the interview granted by Caro Quintero to Proceso, from the underground. And although the leader of the defunct Guadalajara Cartel denied involvement in the kidnapping, torture and murder of Camarena and has insisted the  US authorities have "no evidence and have nothing to judge, before or after" ( Proceso 2073) , the U.S. says:

“The audiotape copy of which was delivered to the government of Mexico (in 1985). It Caro Quintero's voice is heard interrogating Kiki in a house (on 881 Lope de Vega home of RCQ), in Guadalajara.

"We have the testimony of protected witnesses who worked under him, not only drug trafficking, but even in executions and other documents at that time we gave the Mexican authorities. He is responsible for the murder of our agent and must pay for it, "said the US official, who received Proceso in his office.

In the list of the most wanted by the federal Drug Administration (DEA) International drug traffickers,  Caro Quintero is prominently listed. The Justice Department is offering a reward of 5 million dollars for information leading to his capture.
