According to information published by Zeta Magazine (Diario Zeta) Beto Cervantes, the lead singer of the norteña group, “Explosión Norteña”, was killed this morning in Baja California.
Zeta reported that the singer was murdered in the “Playas de Rosarito”, on the Artículo 125 and Michoacán streets, in the colonia Constitución.
Eyewitnesses report, that the victim managed to take control of one of his attackers weapon, however during the struggle the gun fired and he was killed.
In November 2006, Beto Cervantes and two other men were shot outside the offices of the group in the division “el fraccionamiento Guaycura”.
In November 2007, he was arrested while in the restaurant Mariscos Godoy in a federal operation, from which Raidel López Uriarte “El Muletas”, escaped. López Uriarte was presumed to be an operator for the Arellano Félix cartel.
Just a few days ago the singer/group leader, had returned to the stage after his release.
