MEXICO CITY- After the violent incidents that have taken place in Sinaloa, especially in Badiraguato and Culiacan, Mexican journalist and narco-trafficking expert, Anabel Hernandez said during an interview for Aristegui News that perhaps we’re witnessing the true downfall of El Chapo and added that this is not a downfall orchestrated by the government, but rather by his own family
She named Alfredo Beltran Guzman AKA El Mochomito as responsible for the increase in violence in Sinaloa. El Mochomito has launched a fierce fight against the Sinaloa Cartel. While being incarcerated, El Chapo can’t even control his own home, this according to Hernandez.

The incident perpetrated against the house of Chapo’s mom has created chaos in that zone and also in other parts of the country. The Processo journalist said that El Chapo has made his decontrol evident since he learned of the kidnappings of his sons, Ivan and Alfredo in Puerto Vallarta ; since then, violence has escalated. As for the incidents that took place two weeks ago in Culiacan, where five military members died and over 10 wounded, she said that it is still unclear whether it was an attack perpetrated on behalf of el Mochomito “who could have initiated this to start chaos in Chapo’s territory.”
However, she pointed out that “perhaps we’re witnessing for the first time the true downfall of el Chapo with all the consequences that something like this can bring and this is not a downfall orchestrated by the government but rather by his own family.” This was in reference to El Mochomito, son of Alfredo Beltran Leyva and Chapo’s nephew. According to authorities, initially, they suspected Chapo’s sons as being responsible for the attack against the military; however, the SEDENA has no longer mentioned who are the true authors of the attack.

“The statements made by the military chief has forced Chapo’s sons to come out and say that they
had nothing to do with the attack and they do this so that they don’t become victim’s of a SEDENA persecution seeking to retaliate the deaths of their members. It is not clear to me if they are involved. This is a clear indication that Chapo is losing the battle within his own family and not by actions on behalf of the government.”
She assures that according to her close Sinaloa Cartel sources that El Mochomito has created an alliance with CJNG which signifies an alliance between Beltran Leyva and Zetas.
“APPARENTLY, EL MAYO DOESN’T HAVE CONTROL OF HIS TERRITORY EITHER, AT LEAST THAT’S WHAT WE’RE SEEING. THIS SEEMS AS A PERSONAL FIGHT AGAINST EL CHAPO,”
Lastly, she pointed out that the current war between cartels could have a direct impact in the price of drugs.
