The Mexican Army and the PGR are searching homes in the center of Amacuzac, Morelos looking for Santiago Mazari Hernandez, “El Carrete”, considered by the federal and state governments to be leader of Los Rojos Cartel.

Search on for “El Carrete” Leader of Los Rojos

The Municipality of Amacuzac is adjacent to the State of Guerrero. One of the houses searched is located across the street from a local church. The two story house is owned by Mazari Hernandez and according to police reports he has escaped arrest for the sixth time.

Eyewitnesses report that the search operation began around 6:00pm when soldiers arrived in the southern municipality of Morelos , encircled the central neighborhood and searched several houses belonging to “El Carrete”.

Mazari Santiago’s criminal organization has a presence in the states of Morelos and Guerrero and the Attorney General’s Office is offering a $3 Million Peso reward for information leading to the location and arrest of “El Carrete”.

So far it is unknown if any property, weapons or drugs  were seized or any persons detained. Authorities say that  Santiago Mazari Hernandez is wanted in relation to the assassination of the ex PRD mayor of Temixco, Gisela Mota Ocampo, who was gunned down in her own home within hours of taking office last January 2.

The Security Commissioner of the state, Alberto Capella Ibarra, stated earlier that the Capo of Los Rojos has evaded capture due to the fact that “the people of Amacuzac are protecting him”.

Mazari Hernandez, “El Carrete”, is the nephew of Alfonso Miranda, former mayor of the town, Alfonso Miranda was also a local deputy for the PT in the legislature. Currently, Jorge Miranda, who is a nephew of Alfonso and a cousin to “El Carrete” governs the town.
