A video circulating on various social networks shows the moment when a presumed criminal group performs a religious ceremony before going to "war" in Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
The local press says that the images show at least 35 members of the Gulf Cartel, who prepare their "souls" to die in peace and for the possibility of dying.
The recording of just over a minute in duration, the subjects appear armed with large calibre rifles, dressed in tactical gear and at the same time repeat the sentences that one of the leaders indicates to them.
"Praise be my lord, prepare my fingers for war and my hands for battle," are some of the words that the armed men repeat that appear in the images.
Authorities now confirm the authenticity of the video which was recorded on the cell phone of one of the gunmen as Psalm 144.
In recent weeks the state of Tamaulipas has faced a hard war against drug trafficking, and between drug trafficking groups, which has so far resulted in dozens of people killed.
