Teloloapan Guerrero: Mexican Troops Kill 8 After Being Ambushed

MEXICO CITY - At least nine people died including eight civilians and one soldier, which was the result of a clash between military personnel and members of the La Familia criminal group in the municipality of Teloloapan, located in La Tierra Caliente region in the  north of the state of Guerrero.

Faced with the surprise attack, Mexican Army troops repelled the aggression and during the exchange of shots managed to shoot down 8 civilian criminals carrying large caliber weapons, while a military soldier by the name of Oscar Alexis "N", was wounded and later died while being attended to in the community hospital. 

The confrontation was recorded Saturday night at 10:45 p.m., at the crossroads to the town of Pachivia , on the highway that connects the municipal head of Teloloapan with the town of San Antonio Acachautla, official reports indicate.

Reports indicate that an army platoon, stationed in Teloloapan, were intercepted by a group of armed individuals wearing military uniforms  who then opened fire on the soldiers. The gunmen were traveling in two camouflage vehicles similar to those of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena).

After the violent event, the military confiscated diverse armaments, as well as the cloned vans in which the armed men traveled whom are linked with La Familia Michoacana.

Guerrero Coordination Group spokesman Roberto Alvarez Heredia confirmed the facts and said that after the gun battle two vehicles with camouflage and uniforms military type, as well as 11 long arms for exclusive use by the armed forces were secured. 

 "The personnel of the Secretariat of National Defense were patrolling in that zone when they were attacked with shots of firearms by an undetermined number of criminal elements. During the events eight suspects were killed and one soldier who was injured and later died as a result of the injuries he received in that attack," he said in a telephone interview with El Financiero.

The site of the events was secured by military personnel, while on Sunday the Attorney General's Office (FGE) opened an investigation folder and initiated the corresponding proceedings.

This fact was registered after the diffusion of a video: the subjects who were dressed in military type uniforms executed a man who presumably belongs to a local group of community guardsmen of Teloloapan, called La Tecampanera and who are linked with Los Guerreros Unidos.
